Urgent Care Doctors

Telemed Mexico Network Physicians providing care for urgent care needs may recommend prescriptions for a variety of conditions. Common medications prescribed may include antibiotics, antihistamines for allergy relief, and antiviral drugs. Our doctors may initiate treatments for short-term ailments like the flu or urinary tract infections. However, they don’t begin treatments for chronic conditions like hypertension or diabetes. They may renew prescriptions for ongoing treatments, like those for managing blood pressure, when deemed medically appropriate.

Telemed Mexico practitioners abstain from providing prescriptions for controlled substances regulated by federal or state authorities or drugs with a high potential for misuse. Telemed Mexico maintains the discretion to determine which medications its affiliated doctors can prescribe. Each prescription given by a Telemed Mexico physician adheres to relevant federal and state regulations and aligns with Telemed Mexico’s policies.

FAQs

Can I get a prescription?

Telemed Mexico does not guarantee prescriptions. Our doctors have years of experience and our policy is for the doctor to recommend the best treatment. We rely on their discretion regarding the medical necessity of any prescription.  Telemed Mexico doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by any federal or state agency or other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse.

How are prescriptions sent to the patient?

Telemed Mexico does not dispense prescription drugs. If the doctor prescribes medication, it is submitted electronically to the patient.  You may use the pharmacy of your choice to fill the prescription.

Can Telemed Mexico Doctors prescribe antibiotics?

Yes, but it’s vital that antibiotics are prescribed responsibly and judiciously (i.e. only when medically necessary). Our doctors are conscious of the adverse impacts that can arise from over prescribing antibiotics.  Therefore, our physicians only recommend antibiotics when they’re medically necessary.

Not every ailment requires antibiotics. They aren’t effective against viral infections such as colds, flu, many types of sore throats, bronchitis, and some sinus and ear issues. In cases like these, our doctors might suggest a regimen focused on alleviating the symptoms of viral infections.

For a deeper understanding of antibiotics, visit the Center for Disease Control’s official website.

Can you prescribe Controlled Substances, Adderall, or Ritalin?

Doctors from Telemed Mexico do not prescribe medications that are classified as controlled substances and regulated by federal or state agencies, or those that could be potentially abused (Adderall, Ritalin, etc.). Telemed Mexico reserves the right to place restrictions on the medications prescribed by its affiliated doctors.  All prescriptions provided by a Telemed Mexico network physician complies with all Mexican federal and state regulations, as well as the prescription policy of Telemed Mexico.
